Quote of the week: Following the path of least resistance is what makes a river crooked.

Egmonster “Good Egg”: The Egmonster “Good Egg” of the week award goes to the anonymous donor who bequeathed one thousand dollars toward the restoration and beautification of the exterior of the Egmont Community Hall. The donation was made through the Pender Harbour Community Improvement Foundation, a charity organization that has partnered so effectively with our Egmont Community Club in the past. They enable us to apply for and receive grants and donations for the improvement of the Community Hall and grounds, and they can issue a receipt for tax purposes. The Pender Harbour Community Improvement Foundation can be contacted through 604-883-2819 Our Egmont Community Hall is an old building that continues to require much in the way of funds for maintenance and improvements. This donation will used toward restoration of the exterior of the hall.

Movie Night Friday Night is Movie Night at the Egmont Community Hall. On Friday, July 8th, the kids movie will be “Robin Hood”, with Roger Miller as the Rooster, narrator of the tale. If you are an adult, you will remember this film, and if you are a kid, seeing it for the first time, you will enjoy it and have pleasant dreams tonight.

After a short intermission, we will screen the “The Italian Job”. The plan was flawless. The execution was perfect. They pulled off the crime of a lifetime. The one thing that they didn’t plan on was being double-crossed. Now they want more than the the job’s payoff…they want payback.

Rated “G”, this film runs 111 minutes.

After a short intermission, we will screen “Rob Roy” , the story of a legendary hero who refused to let his enemies destroy his honor, and the loyal woman who gave him the courage to fight. When a harsh winter threatens the majestic Scottish Highlands, Rob Roy MacGregor is forced to borrow money from the less than noble Marquis to provide for his clan. But the Marquis’ henchman conspires to take the wealth for himself, and Rob is thrust into the most challenging battle of his life..one that escalates into the exhilarating climax that will captivate you in the film’s final frame. Rated “R”, this film runs 2 hours and 16 minutes.

Garden Club We are still looking for Volunteers to start the Egmont Garden Club and the Community Garden. We have received a grant from the Sunshine Coast Foundation to help finance materials for this purpose. Bruce Hillhouse is helping to organize people, location, and facilities. Look at the community garden in the area behind the hall. Vegetables from this garden were used in the salad for the annual Seafood Dinner (a great success).

Recycle Volunteer. The Egmont Community Club is seeking a volunteer to handle recycling for the community of Egmont. Believe it or not – the recycling earns our club about $1,000 per year. We need this money to help pay expenses. Please contact the Egmont Community Club via email tomdawnecc@gmail.com
